The Alliance meets at noon every third Thursday of each month, September through May. We usually bring our own bag lunches.
The Alliance of the Unitarian Universalist Society of the Daytona Beach Area, Inc. was formed in 1953 as a support group serving the UU Society and the community through education, action, service and fellowship.
During its first 50 years the Alliance has contributed more than $75,000 to further the Society's goals. Community service has included donations to the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee and locally, to the Black-White Dialogue, Family Renew, the Mental Health Association, Halifax Urban Ministries and the Domestic Abuse Council. For more than 10 years, the group made sandwiches to feed the needy at Dickerson Center.
The Alliance's donations have been funded by luncheons, dinners, card parties, a boutique and rummage sales. Alliance get-togethers aren't all work and no play. Programs have included speakers from the congregation and the community. Some meetings were picnics at parks, field trips to museums and art galleries, book reviews, instructions on crafts or writing (poetry), boat rides and lunches at unusual restaurants.
Everyone is invited to join the Alliance, with dues of only $5 a year. Working and playing together keeps us together. In September 2008, the members of the Alliance will consider developing a major community service project.
The officers for 2008 - 2009 are:
President - Gaia Davies
Vice President – Jeanne Young
Secretary – Joyce Nelson
Treasurer – Val Rellstab

Choir meets Wednesday from 6 - 7.
Music is the language of the heart, which we in the choir have been speaking happily for the last few months. With the December 19 "Dark of Winter" service, the U-U singers renewed a tradition of speaking to the members in that universal language. Now we look forward to the New Year and new opportunities to share it. Come, sing with us! We have a place in the busy U-U calendar- Wednesday, from 6-7 and places for more singers. There is always help with mastering parts, as well as laughter and good cheer, plus the adventure of finding new music. If in doubt whether choir is for you, why not sit in with us for a spell? Questions?

This get together is a great opportunity to get to know one another. Designated groups of approximately eight people gather in a member's home each month to discuss a topic - usually chosen by the host.
All participants are expected to take turns serving as host. Host provides a beverage and refreshments. A list of hosts and guests is developed in advance and changes monthly. Host decides date and time of the meeting during assigned month and notifies guests. If you have joined the Dessert/Discussion group already, expect a call from one of the hosts. New members can join at any time, simply contact Joanne Kennedy (386) 672-2556.
